EMPTY BOWLS WHS DINNER & FUNDRAISER 2017

EMPTY BOWLS WHS DINNER & FUNDRAISER 2017

On behalf of Washingtonville High School's National Art Honor Society and the Empty Bowls WHS Committee we wish to thank you for your support of Empty Bowls WHS 2017. This year's fundraiser on Friday, March 24th was a huge success. We served dinner to over 300 guests and more than 50 volunteers, and sold close to 300 handcrafted bowls. This year's event raised $5,000 for the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley with 50% earmarked for the Country Kids Food Pantry in Washingtonville, this is $750 more than we raised the in 2016.

Thank you to those who donated bowls, time, money, goods, and services to this amazing cause. The Empty Bowls Project teaches students the power of the visual arts to promote positive change. Through creative expression we are raising money for and awareness of the very serious issue of food insecurity. This event brought together the school community with local artists & businesses to provide enough food to feed close to 400 people; an amazing achievement when you consider that every ounce of food is generously donated. This project is about art + food + community + activism, an equation that can only = success!
