Announcing Parent & Guardian Bowl Making Workshop, 11/19

ATTENTION CLAY STUDENTS' PARENTS & GUARDIANS

This year the Washingtonville High School National Art Honor Society will host our first annual Empty Bowls Dinner & Fundraiser on Friday, April 1, 2016 in the HS Cafeteria from 6-9pm. Clay students are currently making bowls inspired by their favorite foods. These students will be invited to donate their bowls to this fundraising dinner. At the dinner event we will be requesting a monetary donation in exchange for a handmade ceramic bowl and an opportunity to share a meal together of soups, stews, and desserts donated by Washingtonville community members and businesses. At the end of the evening you leave with an empty bowl, which will serve as a reminder of all those who struggle with food insecurity. The money raised will be donated to the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley in partnership with the Country Kids Food Pantry of Washingtonville.

We wish to invite adult family members to join Ms. Held and Ms. Constable to make slab-built clay bowls, which will be donated to this charity event. This Bowl Making Workshop is on Thursday, November 19th from 530-730pm in room 121. There is a $3.00/per person materials fee (cash only) to cover the cost of the ceramic glazes (the clay is being donated). Please sign up via the link below for this workshop:

If the workshop reaches its maximum capacity of 24, we will consider creating a second workshop in December or January. Questions can be sent to Ms. Held at held@ws.k12.ny.us. If you LOVE the bowl you or your child make, you may reserve them for your family for the Empty Bowls Dinner Event.
