UNIT: TEXT INSPIRED BOWLS
Wheel Thrown & Slump/Hump Bowl Forms
*PROJECT GOAL: This project is inspired by the theme of text in visual art, as well as ancient clay vessels from various cultures and the work of contemporary potters who have incorporated text into their clay forms. Students will create a wheel-thrown or hump-mold bowl whose designs are inspired by words/text that have meaning for them. These words/text may be incorporated into or onto their bowls using any of the surface techniques learned in class, in addition to new surface techniques such as sgrafitto and paper resist.
